Documents Protecting Windows Cleaning Windows

This is a simple guide for cleaning malware from a Windows PC, but in some cases the only way to be sure is to format and re-install Windows. This process may take several hours.

1. Xblock's Xcleaner - Use the online version of XCleaner. If it asks to set a restore point, don't let it.
2. Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool. - Download and run the latest version of the Removal Tool.
3. Sophos AntiRootKit. - Make sure you're free of Rootkits. You'll have to register to download it, but its not hard.
4. Download, Install, and Run CrapCleaner. - Erase all of your temporary files, but don't let it erase your cookies. CCleaner also has a good registry cleaner.
5. Onecare Live. - Use the Full Service Scan.
6. Spybots Search and Destroy. - Download, update, and perform a full scan with Spybot S&D
7. Ewido - Perform a full online scan for malware using Ewido
8. Run a Full Virus Scan. - Update your anti virus program and perform a full scan. If you don't have a good program, I'd suggest using AntiVir.
