CECA's Quick Guide to Blocking Ads with Firefox

Most browsers now come with some form of popup "stopper." This has not prevented advertisement industry to improve popup technology by creating the "pop under." This is a quick guide on setting up Firefox to help eliminate these ads.
1. Download the version of Firefox specific to your operating system. Most linux distributions already come with Firefox installed. Windows and Mac users can get it from: http://slug.ceca.utc.edu/downloads.php
2. Install Firefox and launch it.
3. Go to ttps://addons.update.mozilla.org/ and find the Adblock extension.
4. Install Adblock.
5. Go to http://www.geocities.com/pierceive/adblock/ and download the text file with the latest date.
6. You'll have to restart Firefox to activate Adblock. You should now be able to select Tools->Adblock->Adblock Preferences.
7. Click on Adblock Options->Import Filters. Select the file you downloaded in #5. Click on Done.
8. Surf. When you encounter an ad that is not blocked, or an image you don't like just right-click and select Adblock.
